Agreement
These terms apply to the Fiqh app and the fiqh.law website (together, "Fiqh"). By using Fiqh you agree to them. If you don't agree, please don't use it. If you downloaded the app from the App Store or Google Play, their standard terms also apply.
Religious and educational content
Lessons, quizzes, the prayer guide and other explanations in Fiqh are for general learning. They are not a fatwa or religious ruling and do not replace a qualified scholar.
Scholars and schools of thought (madhahib) differ on many details. Where Fiqh gives one way of doing something, others may be equally valid. For questions about your own practice, please ask someone you trust with knowledge.
Prayer times and qibla
Prayer times are calculated from your location and the method you choose, and may differ from your local mosque's timetable by a few minutes. The qibla compass depends on your phone's sensors, which can be affected by magnets, metal and phone cases. Treat both as a helpful guide and follow your local mosque where they differ.
Zakat calculator
The zakat calculator gives an estimate from the figures you enter. It is not financial, tax or religious advice. Rules on what counts as zakatable wealth vary; for anything complex, please consult a scholar.
Quran text, translations and recitations
Quran text, translations and audio recitations are provided by third-party services and belong to their respective translators, reciters and publishers. We take care to present them faithfully, but if you spot a mistake, please tell us and we will look into it quickly.
Other services and links
Fiqh relies on outside services (listed in our Privacy Policy) and links to other sites such as Maps, news articles and charities. We don't control them and aren't responsible for their content, availability or practices. Fiqh is not affiliated with any charity it lists.
Using Fiqh fairly
Please don't:
- Use Fiqh for anything unlawful
- Try to disrupt, overload or break Fiqh or the services it connects to
- Copy, resell or republish Fiqh's own design, code or lessons without permission
Ownership
The Fiqh name, logo, design, code and original lesson content are owned by Fiqh and protected by copyright and other laws. We make no claim to the Quran itself, and third-party content belongs to its owners.
No warranty
Fiqh is provided free and "as is", without warranties of any kind. We work to keep it accurate and available, but can't promise it will always be error-free or uninterrupted.
Limitation of liability
To the fullest extent the law allows, Fiqh is not liable for any indirect or consequential loss arising from your use of it, including from relying on prayer times, the qibla direction, calculations or educational content. Nothing in these terms limits liability that cannot be limited by law.
Changes
We may update these terms as Fiqh grows. The date at the top shows the latest version. Continuing to use Fiqh after a change means you accept the updated terms.
